What are the uses of guanidine hydrochloride

2022-01-05

Guanidine hydrochloride is made of dicyandiamide and ammonium salt (ammonium chloride) as raw materials, and the melting reaction is carried out at 170-230°C to obtain crude guanidine hydrochloride, which is refined to obtain the finished product.

Uses of Guanidine Hydrochloride:
1. Guanidine hydrochloride can be used as an intermediate in medicine, pesticide, dye and other organic synthesis. It can be used to synthesize 2-aminopyrimidine, 2-amino-6-methylpyrimidine, 2-amino-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine, and is used to manufacture sulfadiazine, sulfamethazine, sulfamethazine and other sulfa drugs Intermediate.
2. Guanidine hydrochloride (or guanidine nitrate) reacts with ethyl cyanoacetate and cyclizes into 2,4-diamino-6-hydroxypyrimidine, which is used to synthesize anti-anemia folic acid. It can also be used as an antistatic agent for synthetic fibers.
3. Guanidine hydrochloride can also be used as a protein denaturant.

4. As a strong denaturant in the experiment of extracting total RNA from cells. The guanidine hydrochloride solution can dissolve proteins, leading to cell structure destruction, nuclear protein secondary structure destruction, and dissociation from nucleic acids. In addition, RNase can be inactivated by reducing agents such as guanidine hydrochloride.
